M 12 (NGC 6218) -- Globular Cluster in Ophiuchus
Although, far less impressive than M5 ( the previous globular cluster drawing), Globular
Cluster M12 is interesting in that it does not appear as spherical as most other globular
clusters (at least to me). It kind of looks like some intergalactic monster took bites out of
it or swished it (admittedly this is highly unlikely). There are many descriptions in the
literature on the visual characteristics of this globular cluster, but the observations are
highly variable (however, I think I am the first to suggest an intergalactic monster was
involved). No doubt, one's imagination plays a role, as does experience, sky conditions
and optics used when drawing deep sky objects.
