M35 (NGC 2168) -- Open Cluster in Gemini
I got up early in the hopes of seeing a new comet, but the skies were just not
transparent enough.  I then tried to see M74 which goes by the name of "The
Phantom" but also failed.  Both the comet and the Phantom are doable from
the deck of my house with my 6" refractor, but not this morning. Out of
frustration I turned the telescope on M35.  This large (almost the size of the full
moon) cluster in Gemini, had no problem piercing through the poor seeing
conditions.
