A Shrinking Mars
As Earth and Mars move apart, the Red Planet becomes an increasingly smaller globe
in the eyepiece.  Mars is currently around 80-million miles from Earth and is less than 11
arcseconds in size -- less than half the size it was only a couple of months ago.  Seeing
meaningful detail on the planet with my 6-inch refractor is becoming more difficult. The
South Polar cap is very small on the now nearly dust-free planet.
