NGC 1513 -- Open Cluster in Perseus
Water Tower Cluster
NGC 1513 is one of several Open Clusters, that are visible in small telescopes, grouped
together a few degrees west of the Alpha Persei Moving Cluster (Melotte 20). The 8.4
magnitude NGC 1513 appears in my refractor as a circle of stars plus an irregular line of
stars, attached to each other by a thin foggy neck of unresolved stars. It reminds me of a
Water Tower (tilted downward at 45-degrees in the drawing). The Water Tower Cluster is
my construct and is not an official/accepted name for the cluster.
