NGC 2324 -- Open Cluster in Monoceros
The Unicorn Open Cluster NGC 2324 resembled little more than a uniform smudge of dim
starlight in the 110mm refractor. The cluster’s 130+ stars are magnitude 12 and dimmer
and, except for a couple of the brighter ones, were not within reach of the small refractor.
The small diffuse spherical glow of unresolved stars contrasted well against the dark-sky
background and provided a pleasing viewing experience.
