NGC 2420 -- Open Cluster in Gemini
Open Cluster/Globular Cluster Intermediate
The Open Cluster NGC 2420 is very old for an Open Cluster, but not for a Globular Cluster. It
also has some chemical features within its stars which appears intermediate between those
of Open Clusters and Globular Clusters. It is a unique collection of over 300 stars.
Most of its stars were below the resolution of my telescope. It did not help that I had a partial
moon in the sky and that I was observing from a suburban neighborhood.
Still the cluster was a pleasing and obvious sight in the 155mm refractor. A fine object to
finish my observing period on March 30, 2020.
