NGC 4596 & 4608 -- Barred Lenticular Galaxies in Virgo

Although, both galaxies easily fit in a one-degree eyepiece view, the dimmer of the pair,
NGC 4608, was on the edge of invisibility. The brighter of the two galaxies, NGC 4596,
was considerably easier to see and goes by the name of “Tiffany’s Epiphany”. I do not
have a clue as to the story behind the name. Both galaxies failed to show any detail in
my 155mm refractor under suburban skies.
