NGC 4654, 4689 & 4866 -- Galaxies in Coma Berenices & Virgo
Three Herschel 400 Galaxies near the Coma Berenices/Virgo Border
All three of these galaxies were a few degrees from each other.  NGC 4654’s
circular glow had a star-like nucleus at its center, while NGC 4689’s circular glow
had a more diffuse bright core.  NGC 4866 was by far the most difficult to see
since it was just a thin sliver in the eyepiece, but its star-like core was also evident.
The drawings were done at magnification 84x, while galaxy detail was added using
137x.
