NGC 4698 -- Barred Spiral Galaxy in Virgo
Ending in Style
NGC 4698 was a perfect galaxy to end my observing session. No need to push tired eyes to
see this small, elongated, Seyfert-2 galaxy. With its core blazing with fresh activity and its
bright star-like nucleus this pleasing gem was refreshing after the last few galaxies that had
been testing both the telescope and my aged-eyes. I had been at it for about 5 hours on my
house-deck observing and it was past time to call it a night. NGC 4698 soft, distant, oval, glow
made for easy closure.
