NGC 5576 -- Elliptical Galaxy in Virgo
The three galaxies, NGC 5576, NGC 5574, and NGC 5577 make an attractive triplet of
galaxies in large Dobsonian telescopes from a dark site. From my suburban backyard
with the 155mm refractor I was denied the pleasure of the triplet. Only the brightest of the
three galaxies could be made out. The subtle glow of NGC 5576 was alone in the eyepiece.
In the moderate-sized refractor from the deck of my house, NGC 5576 revealed its large
core and star-like nucleus.
