Solar Sibling (HR 6669/HD 162826) in Hercules
Solar Sibling HR 6669
The sun was born 4.6 billion years ago in a massive cloud of gas and dust. This "stellar
nursery" in addition to the sun, formed hundreds to thousands of stars.  Over time these stars
dissipated, some as clusters of stars, others as multiple stars, and some, like our sun, as
single stars. Finding the Solar Siblings is very difficult and to date only one star has been
found that is a reasonable candidate, HR 6669 in the constellation Hercules.
