The Spade -- Asterism in Ursa Major
Return to Home Page                 Return to Other Objects
It was going to be a great night to hunt galaxies.  All I needed to do was
wait a bit longer for the telescope to adjust to the outside temperature.
The comical "Spade" asterism helped pass the time.

The Spade asterism spans 1.1 degrees and is located 1.6 degrees from
Phi Ursa Majoris in the southwest direction.  It is a fun binocular or
wide-field telescope object.
