Jupiter and Europa's Shadow on June 29, 2020
Return to Home Page             Return to Jupiter
I waited until just before sunrise before drawing Jupiter because I wished to catch the
shadow of Europa on the planet's disk.  Also, the Great Red Spot would be well placed
at that time.

Both the shadow and GRS were more subtle than expected, with the GRS showing very
little color while Europa's shadow fell on the dark-colored North Equatorial Belt sapping
much of its usual distinct black-spot appearance.

Io was currently in Jupiter's shadow and thus could not be seen.
