M 71 (NGC 6838) -- Globular Cluster in Sagitta
Last night we had clear skies with a setting crescent moon that quickly dipped behind the
trees to the west. The milky way was visible once the moon was out of the way. Not a
bad sky for where I live. I observed and drew a few objects until midnight before heading
home. M71 is a globular cluster that is quite small and sparse as globulars go. It was
debated back-and-forth for years whether it was a tight open cluster or a loose globular
cluster. M71 sits in a nice star field that really accents its presences. It is a lovely object.
