M8 -- Lagoon Nebula (NGC 6523) & Open Cluster (NGC 6530) in Sagittarius
From my house the Lagoon Nebula is just to low in the southern sky to escape the light-pollution
from the local Mall. Carrs Mill Park in the western part of the county is far better for viewing the
faint wisps of this diffuse nebula. It is a stunning object in the 4-inch refractor when viewed away
from the city lights, especially when augmented with OIII and Hydrogen-Beta filters.
