Mars on August 3, 2016
Mars has now dropped to 13 arcseconds in size. Even now one can visually
make out the larger dark markings. However, details beyond the major dark
markings are, or soon will be, beyond the reach visually in my 155mm
refractor. It will be two years before Mars will once again return to opposition
allowing close observation of its surface. Most likely this will be my last
drawing of Mars until then. Details are labeled on the drawing.
