Neptune -- Our Furthest Planet
I needed an easy but satisfying object to end my observing period for the night.  Neptune
was well placed in Aquarius to meet my needs.  In the small refractor, I could make out
the blue-green disk of the planet and determine that it was not pinpoint like a star, but
no detail could be seen beyond that.  Even in my 18” Dobsonian telescope (my largest)
Neptune shows no detail.  At over 2.5 billion miles that comes as no surprise.
