Pluto
After 9 years, NASA's New Horizons flyby of Pluto has taken
place. In the following weeks we will see Pluto as mankind
has never seen it before. To celebrate the occasion (and my
excitement) I dug out my old astronomy notes of when I first
drew Pluto at the eyepiece. That was back in 1999 under dark
skies at a regional Star Party. I took my drawing and digitized
it so I could post it. The point of light to the left of the label is
Pluto. Thanks NASA for turning my Pluto from a very tiny dim
point of light in the night sky into a wonderful world that we all
can admire.
