Stargate -- Asterism in Corvus
An asterism is an interesting grouping of stars by chance.  The most famous is
the Big Dipper asterism in the constellation Ursa Major (The Greater Bear).
There are as many asterisms in the night sky as there are people with
imaginations.

The Stargate asterism is only about a degree away from the
Sombrero Galaxy
(M 104) on the Corvus/Virgo border, which was my primary target for this
morning’s observations.  As I waited for the telescope to cool down, I spent the
time drawing this attractive triangle within a triangle.

Asterisms may not have any realistic astronomic importance, but I feel, there
are times when it is ok to allow esthetics to surpass scientific realism.
