Struve 268 and Struve 270 -- Multiple Star System in Perseus
Two Star Systems near the Double Cluster
The Multiple Star Systems of Struve 268 (double-star) and Struve 270 (triple-star) reside less than
two degrees from the famous Double Cluster (h Persei & Chi Persei). Both Struve Star Systems
easily fit in the same field-of-view with my 155mm refractor at 232x. The secondaries of both
systems are bluish in color. Struve 270 is a wide triplet where the three stars can be split at a
much lower magnification than used in the drawing, but Struve 268 is much tighter, and a higher
power was required to separate the pair.
