46P Wirtanen -- Comet in Taurus on December 11, 2018
The comet 46P Wirtanen has climbed into the constellation Taurus. It is now above
the southern light-saturated haze around my house and is an easy object in the 7 x 42
binoculars. In the 6-inch refractor the coma is huge extending a good distance from the
comet's core; possibly filling the eyepiece field shown, but I could not be 100% sure. I
was able to just make out a slight greenish-tinge to the comet, but the tail on this comet
still alludes me.
